Sarfaraz, Musheer turn out in Times Shield semis

NAVI MUMBAI: Fresh off their success for India and Mumbai, Mumbai's cricketing Khan brothers-Sarfaraz and Musheer-turned out for DY Patil B against Jain Irrigation in The Times Shield 'A' Division semi-final, which kicked off at the DY Patil Stadium here from Tuesday.

However, both endured a rare failure after DY Patil B won the toss and chose to bat first. While Sarfaraz was bowled by Sairaj Patil for a duck, Musheer was caught by Patil off Jagdish Zope for 22, as Jain Irrigation shot out DY Patil B for merely 120.

Sarfaraz and Musheer were not bought by any franchise in the IPL auction in December, and will thus not feature in IPL-2024 unless they are picked as injury replacements.

Making a much-awaited Test debut in the series against England at home recently, Sarfaraz, 26, scored 200 runs in three Tests@50.00, with three fifties-two of them in his first Test at Rajkot.

The 19 year-old Musheer, who only played in the knockout stages of the Ranji Trophy scored 433 runs in three matches@108.25, with two centuries -203 not out against Baroda in the quarterfinal at BKC and 136 in the final against Vidarbha at the Wankhede Stadium, and a half-century, besides taking five wickets@20.80.
