Sarah Jessica Parker addresses ‘nostalgic’ Kim Cattrall SATC cameo

Sarah Jessica Parker has broken her silence on Kim Cattrall’s shock cameo on the upcoming season of And Just Like That – saying the appearance was “nostalgic” and brought “a lot of joy”.

Parker, who plays lead role Carrie, and Cattrall, who plays Samantha, famously fell out in real life during the filming of the original Sex And The City series.

The latter refused to appear in the new spin-off series, despite Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis signing up to reprise their roles of Miranda and Charlotte respectively.

Now Parker, 58, has finally broken her silence on the return of Cattrall, 66, saying her cameo was “really fun and exciting and certainly nostalgic”.

According to the Mail, she added: “It’s been a lot of joy.”

Parker continued: “We’ve been really thoughtful about the ways in which we’ve, you know, approached characters that hadn’t been around, the ways we have invited actors back and it’s been, you know, really fun and exciting and certainly nostalgic, but I think more than that, it’s been a lot of joy.”

Reports suggest that in the finale of the second season of And Just Like That, which premieres on Thursday, Carrie and Samantha speak on the phone.

But while some fans will hope the cameo is a move towards resolution between the two actresses, sources suggested to the Mail that Cattrall and Parker didn’t film the scene together.

Evan Handler, who plays Charlotte’s husband Harry Goldenblatt, reportedly said that Cattrall filmed her part “in a garage” back in March, meaning she didn’t have to interact with any of the cast.

Meanwhile, Davis said about the appearance: “We just thought that, you know, it would be fun for the fans to have a little bit of Samantha because we know that they miss her and she’s a great character.”

Parker and Cattrall were reportedly “never friends” throughout the filming of the six-season HBO drama and the two subsequent films.

It was reported that the fact Parker was paid more for playing Carrie and being an executive producer on the show was the main root of their animosity.

It comes as the show celebrated its 25-year anniversary. The show first aired on June 6, 1998.

It ran until 2004 and spawned two feature films released in 2008 and 2010.

In her own post paying tribute to the show, Cynthia Nixon posted a throwback photo from SATC, alongside a more recent picture of herself.

“I cannot believe Sex and the City premiered 25 years ago today,” she captioned the post.

“Before the show I never thought anything as big and wonderful as this could happen to me. And now I can’t imagine my life without it!

“I know it holds a special place in so many of your hearts too, so thank you for watching. And get ready for season 2 of And Just Like That!”

While Kristin Davis wrote: “It is impossible to believe it has been 25 years!

“I consider myself the luckiest person in the world to be a part of this story that connects so many of us together. It has and continues to be a joy!

“Thank you to all of you who have come along for the ride. We love you.”

Parker posted a picture of a golden necklace bearing her character’s name Carrie.

“It’s our silver anniversary but the memories will always be gold,” she wrote.
