Sarah Everard: Murderer Wayne Couzens 'seriously ill' with Covid

Killer police officer who murdered Sarah Everard is reportedly "seriously ill" after having been struck down with Covid in prison.

Wayne Couzens, who abducted and killed Ms Everard, aged 33, in March last year, has been placed in isolation.

He remains in his cell but is "seriously ill" according to sources, reports Birmingham Live.

The ex-Metropolitan Police firearms officer staged a fake Covid arrest to abduct marketing executive Sarah in 2021.

Couzens, 48, who had clocked off from a 12-hour shift that morning, went on to rape and strangle the 33-year-old marketing executive.

The sexual predator used his handcuffs and warrant card to snatch Ms Everard as she walked home from visiting a friend in Clapham, south London, on the evening of March 3.

Speaking to The Sun, a source said: “He’s been suffering quite badly with it though after coming down with symptoms and has been told to isolate in his cell.

“He is having food and drink left outside, and can’t see anyone at all.

“There is not a lot of sympathy for him though, given his former job and what he did with the fake Covid arrest."

Chiefs have drawn up a framework to boost the police response to crimes committed against women and girls in the wake of outrage sparked by the murder of Sarah Everard by a serving officer (PA)

Information emerged in December revealing Cousins' decision to appeal his life sentence for the kidnap, rape and murder of Sarah.

He was jailed for the whole of his life in September 2021 and is currently being held at HMP Frankland, County Durham.

The source added: “The outbreak has caused a lockdown on his wing, which at least means he is safe from other prisoners.”

Sarah Everard's murder shocked the nation and led to a huge number of vigils held across the country, including in London, on March 13 that led to four arrests due to breach in Covid restrictions
