Sarah Everard killer Wayne Couzens 'seriously ill' in prison

The killer cop who raped and murdered Sarah Everard is reportedly "seriously ill" with Covid in prison.

Wayne Couzens, who was handed a life sentence for the abduction and killing of Ms Everard last year, has been placed in isolation.

He remains in his cell but reports say he is "seriously ill" with the virus, Birmingham Live reports.

The former-Metropolitan Police firearms officer carried out a fake Covid arrest to kidnap marketing executive Sarah before raping, killing and burning her body.

The 33-year-old was taken while walking home from a friend's house close to Clapham Common, south-west London.

The case sparked a national outrage, with a vigil held close to where Sarah disappeared marred by a controversial police response due to breaches of COVID-19 regulations.

A source told the Sun newspaper: "He’s been suffering quite badly with it though after coming down with symptoms and has been told to isolate in his cell.

“He is having food and drink left outside, and can’t see anyone at all.

“There is not a lot of sympathy for him though, given his former job and what he did with the fake Covid arrest."

It emerged in December Couzens plans to appeal his life sentence for the harrowing kidnap, rape and murder of Sarah.

The source added: “The outbreak has caused a lockdown on his wing, which at least means he is safe from other prisoners.”

The case of Ms Everard shocked the nation and led to vigils across the country, including in London, where Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, went and paid her respects.
