San Antonio Spurs have finally confirmed Victor Wembanyama's exact height after the 19-year-old was selected as the No. 1 pick at the 2023 NBA draft.
Wembanyama was unsurprisingly picked first at this year's draft, meaning he will begin his career in the NBA with the Spurs. The Frenchman has been the name on everybody's lips in recent months, having been tipped to become basketball's next megastar.
One attribute Wembanyama does have out on the court is his remarkable height, with the teenager often seen towering over his teammates and opponents. Many have questioned what his exact size is - and that has now been answered.
The 19-year-old was recorded as 7-feet-4-inches on the NBA Draft database, but such is his huge height there was mystery over how accurate that figure was. In a press conference, the Spurs referre to him as 7-feet-3-inches, but it has now emerged they have determined his exact height.
According to the San Antonio Express, a Spurs official has noted Wembanyama's height is 7-feet, 3-and-a-half inches. It is claimed that they had Wembanyama take off his shoes, straighten his back and stand still for Spurs staff to take an exact measurement.
After Spurs staff reached their conclusion, the Frenchman will no doubt be looking to use his height to his advantage when he takes to the NBA court later this year. Despite heading into his maiden season as a teenager, Wembanyama already has his sight set on making it to the top.
"Just accomplishing something that I've been dreaming of my whole life," Wembanyama said after being selected as the No. 1 pic.
"Hearing that sentence from Adam Silver. I got to cry man. "It's a tough league tough to win. Many players have tried to win for years and decades and my goal is to learn as quick as possible and win that ring."
Echoing similar draft about his NBA's goal back in April, he said: "I realised pretty young I wanted to play in the NBA but it becomes a reality more every day.
"I'm so lucky to have this dream within the reach of my hand. I've been working more than ever on my body with my personal trainer Guillaume [Alquier]. I'm ready to go over all sorts of obstacles."
