Hollywood legend Samuel L. Jackson is filming a new blockbuster about a serial killer terrorising Scotland.
The A-list star has been shooting scenes across the country for Damaged, which also features Westworld star Vincent Cassel.
There’s been much speculation recently that Jackson is in Scotland for a new Marvel production, but studio bosses announced the action thriller yesterday, as reported by Deadline.
Scots actor Gianni Capaldi also stars, alongside Kate Dickie and John Hannah.
Scottish streaming company Stream Digital, based in Livingston, is partnering with Red Sea Media and Bondit Media Capital for the project.
Paul Aniello, Stream Digital’s CEO, said: “We are really excited and proud to be working with such a great team of people to bring this story to life. We have a great director; a great cast and script and we believe this will be a real success.”
Locals in Livingston had been convinced Jackson had been in town to film for a new Marvel production after the overflow car park at Almond Valley Heritage Centre was transformed into a production village recently.
Staff were tight-lipped about the project but they did reveal megastar Jackson had been on site and said “these Marvels don’t happen every day”, leading to speculation on social media the location was used for either the upcoming series Secret Invasion or The Marvels.
Local Sue Smillie confirmed: “They filmed in the church - Samuel L Jackson walks up the path to the church and peers in a window then goes in for a while before walking back down the path and gets into a car!”
Heritage Centre staff took to Facebook to say: “A string of big fancy trailers parked up in our field, providing base camp for cast and crew as they filmed at various local locations. It was (and is) all very top-secret and even if we knew more, we wouldn’t clype.
“Suffice to say, we’re preparing a commemorative plaque, proudly stating “somewhere near this bush, make-up was applied to Samuel L. Jackson.”
Luke Taylor and Matthew Helderman from BondIt Media Capital said in a statement: "Continuing our partnership with Roman and his team at Red Sea, we're beyond excited about the incredible package for Damaged.
"The full creative team represent some of the strongest and most original voices in the industry that will deliver an exceptional finished film for the marketplace."
