Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold8 series tops 2.7 lakh pre-orders, eyes S26-level demand

Samsung's latest foldable smartphones have set a new pre-order record in India, with the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 crossing 2.7 lakh pre-orders within 72 hours of launch, as foldables continue to gain traction among premium smartphone buyers.

The company said it took just three days to cross the mark after the devices were unveiled on July 22. Last year, Samsung India had taken 15 days to reach a similar number of pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7.

For context, Samsung had received 2.1 lakh pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 FE within the first 48 hours of launch.

This year, 45% of pre-orders for the new foldables came from tier-2 cities and beyond, indicating that demand for premium foldable smartphones is no longer limited to metro markets.

Following the strong start, Samsung said it is confident the Galaxy Z Fold8 series will match the pre-order numbers of its Galaxy S26 lineup launched earlier this year.

"The overwhelming response to our new Galaxy Z series highlights India's increasing demand for innovative technologies that enhance productivity and unlock creative potential," said JB Park, President and CEO, Samsung Southwest Asia. "With 45% of pre-orders originating from Tier 2 cities and beyond, we are observing the rise of a promising growth market with significant potential."
