JAMMU: Continuing its drive against criminals and drug peddlers, District Police under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba Benam Tosh arrested seven hardcore criminals including a female drug peddler and a rapist on Sunday, police said on Sunday.
"Among the arrested seven notorious accused include two heroin suppliers including a female involved in attack on Police case, two notorious thieves, two notorious bovine smugglers and one notorious accused involved in kidnapping of a minor girl," police said.
Police said, "One Parvaz Ahmed an accused of abducting and raping a minor girl, has been arrested from Rakh Amb Talli."
"One Saleema Bibi wanted in a case registered under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was arrested from the Bari Brahmana area."
"Bibi had been supplying heroin to addicted youths and was also involved in an attack on a Police party," the officer said.
Whereas one criminal Badroo Din alias "Badaru", was arrested from Vijaypur for his involvement in an attack on a police party recently.
"He was the fifth accused arrested in the case," police added.
While Roshan Lal and Mohit Ram Patel were arrested from Bari Brahmana after they were named in a theft case, while two bovine smugglers namely Parviz Ahmed & Reiaz were nabbed from Mansar, the officer said.
"Police recovered six cattle and two vehicles were seized with this arrest.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba Benam Tosh said a total of 82 thieves, 73 cow smugglers and 42 heroin suppliers have been arrested in the district in the past four months and more arrests are likely.
