CHANDIGARH: An independent candidate contesting the Punjab assembly polls has moved the Punjab and Haryana high court against the Haryana government’s decision to release controversial Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim on furlough.
The petition filed by Paramjit Singh Sohali, 56, an independent candidate from Samana constituency, has contended that dera chief’s release on furlough for 21 days at a time when the assembly elections are scheduled on February 20, may disturb peace in Punjab. The petition will come up for hearing on Friday.
