Sam Simmonds starts for England as Alex Dombrandt loses No.8 spot after Covid

England Alex Dombrandt Sam Simmonds Covid Ireland Joe Marchant Kyle Sinckler Tom Curry Harlequins Saracens

Sam Simmonds will start at No.8 for England against Ireland with Covid victim Alex Dombrandt dropped to the bench.

Dombrandt, scorer of England's only try against Wales a fortnight ago, was unable to train before today ahead of Saturday's Six Nations title eliminator at Twickenham.

Simmonds, who last started in the defeat to Scotland last month, returns to the line-up where he is joined by centre Joe Marchant, replacing Elliot Daly.
