Sam Peters defeated Annie Black and Chance Bonaventura in the June 14 Republican primary for Nevada’s 4th Congressional District. Peters will face incumbent Rep. Steven Horsford (D) in the general election. The Democratic primary was canceled since Horsford was the only candidate to file in the race.
Inside Elections and Sabato’s Crystal Ball rated the general election as Lean Democratic, and The Cook Political Report viewed the race as a Toss-up. According to FiveThirtyEight, Nevada’s 4th had a D+5 partisan lean after the 2020 redistricting cycle, while the old district had an R+1 lean. A partisan lean indicates the difference between how a state or district votes and how the country votes overall.
Black and Peters led the Republican primary field in fundraising, media coverage, and endorsements, including an endorsement for both candidates from the Nevada Republican Party.
