Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers 'on' Rangers transfer watchlist as Serie A strikers fit Michael Beale signing blueprint

Serie A strike stars Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers are under Rangers’ watchful eye this summer, according to a report.

Lammers spent the second part of the season on loan at Sampdoria from Atalanta, but couldn’t fire Il Blucerchiati to safety, with the Genoa club destined to go down despite one game remaining in the Italian campaign. The 26-year-old front man only netted twice this season and could be on the move despite joining Atalanta on a five-year deal from PSV in 2020, most of which has been spent out on loan, previously at Eintracht Frankfurt and Empoli.

Dessers enjoyed a more fruitful season at Cremonese, at least from a personal point of view. The Nigerian netted ten times but La Crema will join Samp in Serie B next season after finishing second bottom. Dessers has four years left to run on his contract but may be looking for an escape route rather than dropping down a division.

The 28-year-old only signed for Cremonese last summer from Genk, like Lammers, for a reported £5million. A red hot loan spell at Feyenoord saw him finish top scorer in the 2021/22 Europa Conference League as the Dutch outfit narrowly lost the final to Jose Mourinho’s Roma.

Both have been monitored by Rangers, according to the Daily Mail, as Michael Beale seeks more firepower. Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent are gone when they;re contracts officially expire next month, while Antonio Colak seems surplus to requirements despite a decent season in front of goal since joining last summer.

Beale wants players with big club and European experience, which means Lammers and Dessers would fit the profile the Gers boss is after. He said: ”I think experience of playing in Europe, experience of being at big clubs, being at the top of the league, is more important than age,' said the Ibrox boss. 'We're not going to be signing any veterans, what I'm trying to say is we're looking towards those who have big-club experience and could handle playing at Ibrox with all the pressure and intensity that comes with that. That's what I am looking for.'
