Sam Heughan teases Men in Kilts season two and tells fans they will 'love new episodes'

Sam Heughan gave fans an update on the second season of his hit travel show Men in Kilts.

The Outlander actor, 41, responded to a fan on social media and gave them an update on the progress of the second season.

Heughan, originally from Dumfries, works alongside former co-star Graham McTavish, originally from Glasgow, as the two take fans along with them on their wild adventures.

The actor, who plays Jamie Fraser, told fans on Twitter that production had finished cutting the first episode of season two, telling fans they will 'love this season'.

The upcoming season, which officially wrapped back in February, will document their journey across New Zealand, a country that was a popular destination for Scottish immigrants to settle back in the 19th century.

Season 2 will follow Sam and Graham as they explore the Scottish influence of New Zealand across eight episodes.

Sam gave a teaser to Forbes Magazine about what's in store for season two: "We were exploring the culture of New Zealand, the Scottish heritage, like there’s the connection there with the immigrants.

"And then, we were looking at the food and drink, we’re looking at the activities you can do.

"It’s very much an outdoors country, the wildlife. And of course, lots of torturing Graham."

Men in Kilts was recently nominated for a series of awards at the American Reality TV Awards, much to the delight of Sam and Graham - and their fans.

It has been nominated for Outstanding New Show, Outstanding Docu Series, Best Feel Good, and Best Lifestyle.

When the first season aired, TV Insider asked Heughan and McTavish where they’d like to travel to should the show return for a second season.

Both joked about warmer climes than Scotland, and also brought up New Zealand as an option.

“There’s plenty more to do in Scotland,” McTavish said.

“We’ve barely scratched the surface to be honest. But yeah, other parts of the world. Sam was mentioning India, which I knew had a Scottish connection, but I didn’t realize quite as much. America, obviously. Canada. New Zealand.”

So far, there is no release date for the new season of Men in Kilts but since filming wrapped in February it could be expected in late 2022 or early 2023.
