Sam Fender drinks with Johnny Depp at Newcastle bar leaving locals shocked

Sam Fender joined Johnny Depp at a Newcastle pub on Wednesday night, minutes before the verdict on the actor's case with ex Amber Heard was announced. Shortly after 7pm, it was revealed the jury in the courtroom in Fairfax, US, had reached a verdict, having Johnny and Amber both accused each other of defamation.

Just as news of the high profile case's conclusion broke, Pirates of the Caribbean actor Johnny sent the Bridge Tavern into a frenzy when he was spotted by fellow drinkers. And there wasn't just one hero in the boozer at the time because, as well as Jeff Beck who Johnny will play the Sage Gateshead with on Thursday, singer Sam joined them, after a busy spell of his own which saw him raise well over £130,000 at a charity gig at o2 Newcastle City Hall and play to a packed crowd at Radio 1's One Big Weekend in a matter of days.

Sam posted a selfie of the group on his Instagram, along with the caption 'Some serious heroes.' Johnny left The Bridge minutes before the Amber Heard verdict came in reports ChronicleLive.

Minutes later the jury ruling defamed ex-husband Johnny in a 2018 Washington Post article in which she wrote about being “a public figure representing domestic abuse”. The verdict prompted shouts of "Johnny, Johnny!" from fans outside, with the Pirates of the Caribbean actor $10m (£8m) in compensatory damages and $5m in punitive damages.
