Sam Fender made sure his Glastonbury performance was pure Geordie , with him even swigging from a bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale as he delivered a set which saw him become an instant legend at Worthy Farm.
The North Shields singer, flanked by his super talented band, took to the Pyramid Stage in front of a captive crowd and gave the Glasto punters a night to remember as the sun started to go down on a fantastic Friday night at the globally famous event.
Early highlights included set opener the highly infectious Will We Talk and the saxophone laden The Borders. Johnny Bluehat was on top from again as Get You Down sounded sublime in the Glastonbury dusk, while moshers had a ball to the back-to-back of Spice and Howdon Aldi Death Queue.

As BBC viewers spotted Newcastle United tops and black and white flags in the crowd, Sam added to the Geordie theme to proceedings by taking a drink of Newcy Brown as he sat behind the piano to deliver the hauntingly poignant The Dying Light.
A mass singalong to Saturday and a rampant rendition of Hypersonic Missiles brought things to a thrilling crescendo as Sam and his band were showered with plaudits from the many music fans who watched their set live on the BBC.
Twitter went wild for Sam and his bottle of Newcastle Brown, with one fan tweeting: “Sam Fender is sat at a piano laden with a Newcastle FC flag with an open bottle of Newcastle Brown on the side. Can you guess he's a proud Geordie.”
Equally proud of seeing Sam with Tyneside’s iconic tipple, another reacted: “Sales of Newcastle Brown Ale are going to go through the roof this weekend.”
In a big night for Sam’s beloved NUFC, the Magpies had a bid accepted for top transfer target Sven Botman, and referencing that, a United fan tweeted: “ Sam Fender performing the Pyramid Stage and drinking a bottle of Newky Brown while Newcastle United simultaneously sign a world class defender. What a genuinely incredible time to be alive.”
