Sam Fender delighted fans with news of a new live album on Monday, just as his gig at St James' Park looks set to spark a ticket meltdown.
After speculation that it might be on the horizon, North Shields' own music megastar Sam confirmed on Friday that he and his band will be playing on the pitch at Newcastle United 's famous ground on Friday, June 9 2023, with the announcement setting social media on fire.
Revealing all in a video soundtracked by Geordie anthem Local Hero, Sam said: "It's a childhood dream come true. I always joked that one day we might play St James' Park in Newcastle, the biggest stadium in the north east, and now we're actually gonna play it on the 9th June next year. It's gonna be such a special moment and I hope you all join us for it."

Pre-sale tickets for Sam's St James' Park gig go on sale on Wednesday morning, with fans clamouring to sign up to his mailing list to gain access. General sale starts on Friday, with all tickets set to be snapped up within minutes of being made available.
And, while they brace themselves for a SJP ticket frenzy, Sam's fans had good reason to be happy on Monday when the Seventeen Going Under singer announced he's releasing a live recording of his record-breaking Finsbury Park concert in the summer.
The album captures Sam’s scintillating sell-out performance in front of 45,000 fans in London. As Sam’s biggest headline show to date, and straight off the back of his show-stealing performance at Glastonbury Festival, the Finsbury Park show paid testament to an incredible twelve month for the artist whose star is on the up and up.
The album will be released as a standalone double coloured vinyl on December 9 through Polydor Records. It will also then feature as a Live Deluxe Edition of the already chart-topping Seventeen Going Under album on double CD and include B-sides and the Live From Finsbury Park recordings.
