Leeds United – like many clubs this season – find themselves in crisis. Currently sat 17th in the table, with only goal difference keeping them out of the drop zone, manager Javi Gracia seems to be heading for the exit door.
The man set to replace him… is none other than Sam Allardyce. The ex-Newcastle boss is on the cusp of becoming Leeds manager until the end of the season, in an aim to work his managerial magic and save Leeds from the drop.
He will have to work his magic in double-quick time however, with four tough fixtures remaining for Leeds, with games against Manchester City, Newcastle, West Ham and Spurs – making survival seem like an impossible task.

One of those sides – namely Newcastle – known ‘Big Sam’ very well with Allardyce having managed the Magpies way back in the 2007-08 season. His spell on Tyneside did not last for long however, only spending a total of eight months in charge of the Magpies before being sacked and then replaced by Toon legend Kevin Keegan in the early months of 2008.
In what is a barren run of fixtures for Leeds, Allardyce will undoubtedly hope to come back and haunt his former side - with Newcastle set to visit Elland Road next week, in what will be Allardyce’s first home game in charge.
With Newcastle hoping to secure their top-four place in the coming weeks, they will want to improve their poor record against ‘Big Sam’. As since leaving his post at St James Park, Allardyce has enjoyed a fruitful record against the Magpies – with the Toon Army only winning three of their last 14 fixtures against a side managed by Allardyce.
Whether it be the Champions League race, the relegation scrap, or the title race – all ends of the table will inevitably feel the impact of Allardyce’s notorious 1-0 wins.
