Sam Allardyce has agreed a shock return to management with Premier League strugglers Leeds.
The 68-year-old former West Ham and Crystal Palace manager has been identified by the Yorkshire club as their best chance of staving off relegation.
Leeds are set to sack head coach Javi Gracia after just two months in charge, following their 4-1 defeat to Bournemouth on Sunday.
Director of football Victor Orta has been dismissed.
Owner Andrea Radrizzani said: “I am deeply saddened by the way that this chapter closes as Victor has been responsible for some of the best moments of my time as owner of Leeds and I thank him and his people for all they have done in the past six years.
Allardyce has been out of work for almost two years since his last job at West Brom.
Leeds have four matches remaining this season, starting away against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
They then host Champions League-chasing Newcastle, West Ham and Tottenham in what is a daunting run-in, as they bid to avoid a return to the Championship.
Leeds are 17th in the Premier League and only goal difference is keeping them out of the relegation zone, having earned just one point in five games and conceding 18 goals.
