Salty ‘College GameDay’ Fans Serenaded Oregon’s Mascot With Vulgar Chant

It may have been early for Washington fans who attended Saturday morning’s episode of ESPN’s College GameDay in Seattle, but that didn’t stop the crowd from engaging in some vulgar trash talk toward Pac-12 rival Oregon.

The Seattle crowd, which was packed to the brim for the 6 a.m. PT start to the show, began loudly chanting a not-safe-for-work phrase directed at Oregon’s mascot: “F— the Duck.”

When it came time for the College GameDay crew to address the elephant in the room, Pat McAfee provided an explanation that was appropriate for television—albeit not accurate.

“There’s a duck out here, and then there was a truck. They were saying ‘truck the Duck,’” McAfee jokingly explained. “I think that’s what they were saying.”

College GameDay host Rece Davis added to the bit by saying that “young scholars” wouldn’t use such “salty language in a public setting.” But, the ESPN crew has been around college football fans long enough to know this isn’t uncommon.

No. 7 Washington plays host to No. 8 Oregon at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Husky Stadium in Seattle.
