SALT to open sixth craft beer, cocktails and food destination in Leeds city centre

A growing West Yorkshire craft brewery business is launching its sixth bar and street food destination selling cocktails on tap.

SALT - part of the Ossett Brewery & Salt Beer Factory company - is opening SALT Craft + Falafel in Leeds on Friday, February 18, having invested heavily in the former Crafted Asylum to create a new bar and restaurant specialising in beer, cocktails and middle-eastern street food.

The new venue is based in the modern Granary Wharf development next to the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, which brings together a vibrant collection of bars, restaurants, a contemporary hotel, housing and open spaces.

The new bar, which will offer seven different cocktails on tap, follows the success of the company’s other craft beer and street food pairings, at 2 Craft + Pizza in London and Craft + Bao in Sheffield, and this time sees the business partner Falafel Guys, which draws queues to its food van on Briggate.

Founder Jamie Lawson said: “We wanted to extend our presence in Leeds whilst still offering something different. We were blown away by the reception to SALT Leeds Craft + Cocktails and we wanted to offer a little bit of diversity in a fast-growing area of the city centre.

“SALT Craft + Falafel is inspired by our love for food and venues that offer something for everyone. Craft beer and street food is such a natural pairing and adds to our pursuit of ‘beer perfection’.”

Falafel Guys co-owner Abdalla Ramzy said: “We are always actively looking to expand and when the opportunity with SALT came up we had to go for it. We are super excited to be opening another location and joining SALT.

"The team here is incredible and SALT is a great place. We’ve been planning our next move for some time now. As a company we believe that SALT is the right place for Falafel Guy’s next home.’’

Co-founder of Falafel Guys, Ahmed Ramzy added: “SALT and the area is very lively and we’ve been doing our research into locations where there is a gap in the market for tasty fresh falafels. Middle Eastern food is extremely popular and what differs us from other places is that we use top quality freshest ingredients and everything on the menu is halal. We can’t wait to meet and welcome our new and regular customers.”
