Salomon's latest hiking sneaker can handle your wet summer hikes

The Broken Arm and Salomon are joining forces once again to present a sneaker that’s as good on land as it is in water. While the two have a slew of trail-ready sneaker collabs already under their belt, their latest takes on the Techamphibia as a sneaker-sandal hybrid.

Walking on water —

As its name suggests, the Techamphibia pulls inspiration from animals like frogs and salamanders that split their time between land and water. The sole of the sneaker is fitted with cleat-like ridges for extra traction in dirt or mud. If you need to cross into wet territory, the shoe’s mesh construction lets that happen without getting too soggy. The ventilation also helps it dry quickly as you walk, almost giving it a breathable sandal vibe.

Building on Salomon’s Techamphibian means the shoes are constructed with adjustability and comfort all around with all the features you’d want from a hiking sandal. The adjustable heel strap allows the back to collapse for wear as a slide or upright with socks or protective booties. Rubber on the toe caps prevents annoying toe bumps, and the soles are fitted with EVA foam to absorb shock.

Aesthetically, the sneaker uses a primary color palette of black, beige, and white. Black dresses most of the accenting on the midsole, toe, heel, laces, and tongue, while beige appears throughout the mesh base, tongue, and stitched loops. White also peeks through the tongue and translucent knitting on the body to reveal a springtime array of flowers, a dainty touch for the technical footwear.

Branding is kept to a minimum to let the tech do the talking, but Salomon adds a quip of its logo to a tag on the forefoot and a logo on the tongue. The Broken Arm’s branding is reserved for the insole and is accompanied by a mountain graphic.

Meet your hiking buddies —

The duo’s existing lineup of kick collaborations includes work on a couple of Salomon silhouettes, including the XT-Quest 2, XT-4, Trail Pro, and XA-Alpine Mid, among others. The two are well acquainted at this point, but even so, the Techamphibian is the two’s first venture into a more versatile sneaker.

At the time of writing, most sizes of The Broken Arm and Salomon’s Techamphibia sneaker are currently sold out on the Parisian boutique’s website — try your luck — leaving the shoe to be sought on the secondary market. Resell value for their other collabs has some pairs marked up to three times their retail price and certain pairscertain pairs of the Techamphibian are reselling for $250.
