The number of people confirmed sick in an FDA Salmonella Javiana investigation has doubled in a single week, rising from 106 to 212, and the agency still has not identified the food responsible.
The FDA posted the updated figure to its CORE outbreak investigation table on Wednesday. The investigation, listed as reference number 1395, was first added to the table on July 22. Alongside the doubled case count, the agency's status changed in a way that matters: traceback has been conducted, and sampling has now been initiated.
