Salman Rushdie awarded the prestigious German Peace Prize 2023

Salman Rushdie

Prolific writer Salman Rushdie has been awarded the 2023 Peace Prize of the German Book Trade for "his indomitable spirit, for his affirmation of life and for enriching our world with his love of storytelling." The announcement was made on June 19, the day when Rushdie turned 76.

Rushdie will receive the award at a ceremony in Frankfurt on October 22, 2023. It will also be broadcasted live on German public TV.
