Saka, Zinchenko and Elneny: Arsenal injury news and return dates ahead of Zurich and Chelsea

Mikel Arteta has had to contend with a number of both short-term and long-term injuries so far this season as his Arsenal side have shot to the top of the Premier League table. In recent weeks it has not been brilliant news for the Gunners on the injury front with Emile Smith Rowe and Mohamed Elneny being ruled out for long periods.

Arsenal have struggled with injuries all over the pitch so far this season with players in each position missing certain parts of the season meaning Arteta's has had to place square pegs in round holes a number of times.

Oleksandr Zinchenko and Elneny are the two absentees that the Gunners were hoping for good news from with the hope that both can feature in some capacity for the World Cup break. With that said, here's a look at the latest Arsenal injury news:

Bukayo Saka

Arsenal fans would have been eagerly waiting for news on the availability of Bukayo Saka after the Englishman limped off in the first half of the Gunners' 5-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

Despite the immediate concerns, Saka trained with the Arsenal first-team squad on Tuesday and Arteta has confirmed that he is available for the Europa League clash with Zurich on Thursday night, but it's very possible he will not be risked with the Gunners facing Chelsea on Sunday in the Premier League

Oleksandr Zinchenko

The Ukrainian defender has been absent from the Arsenal squad since the north London derby win at the start of October with a calf injury, but there is positive news on his possible return.

Zinchenko was also spotted in Arsenal first team training on Tuesday and while he may not feature in the Europa League, with Arteta revealing that he had only been apart of two training sessions, he could be an option for the Gunners huge clash with Chelsea on Sunday.

Mohamed Elneny

The good news has arrived in batches of three for Arsenal as Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny was another player side-lined with an injury that returned to training this week.

The 27-year-old has been out for two months after suffering a hamstring injury in the win over Fulham. It's likely Arteta will focus on building up the fitness of Elneny over the next few weeks but he may still have a part to play in Arsenal's final four fixtures, with the EFL Cup fixture against Brighton a possible game to have him return in.
