If there is one team in the NFL that the New Orleans Saints have the most tenuous history with, it would be the Atlanta Falcons. The NFC South rivalry will continue this weekend as the two teams will meet for the first time this season, with the division lead on the line. The Saints could either take a solid lead over the Falcons with a win or end up with an even record and behind in the head-to-head in this game.
While the series has favored the Saints in the 2020s, it’s been a pretty back-and-forth matchup since the 80s. So much so, that the all-time series record is tied at 54-54. The Saints lead the regular season series by one, but the Falcons took the lone playoff matchup back in 1991. The game will take place in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The series is tied 27-27 in games that take place there, but the Saints are 5-1 in that stadium, which opened in 2017.
Both teams will be coming off of a bye week as the Saints will look to take their first lead in the series since the first ever matchup in 1967.
