Saint Vincent de Paul reports spike in calls as Christmas approaches this year

Saint Vincent de Paul have reported an alarming surge in calls as Christmas approaches this year.

Figures show that Saint de Paul had already received over 190,000 calls for assistance as of November, which was the overall total recorded for 2021. And volunteers are being inundated with requests for help as people struggle with rising costs this year.

The charity's policy head Tricia Keilthy says lone parents in particular are being impacted by inflation this Christmas. She told RTE’s Morning Ireland that parents are becoming increasingly concerned about the impact of school closures on their children’s welfare.
