Sainsbury's is set to introduce a ban across all stores next year as it ramps up efforts to combat plastic waste.
The supermarket has already switched up several popular products recently in a bid to help the environment, including changing its coffee pods range from plastic to aluminium and launching new double-length toilet rolls. The latest move will help to save 71 million pieces of plastic each year, according to the retailer.
Sainsbury's has announced that it will be removing single-use plastic lids across its own-brand dip pots from March 2023. Favourites such as sour cream and chive, guacamole and tzatziki dips will all be affected by the change, and will cut down on the equivalent of 220 tonnes of plastic annually.
