SAI wants Bajrang Punia to attend Worlds trials or give fitness certificate

NEW DELHI: The Sports Authority of India (SAI) has requested Bajrang Punia, an Olympic-medalist wrestler, to participate in the upcoming trials for the World Championships or furnish a fitness certificate if he intends to seek an exemption from the evaluation scheduled this week in Patiala.

Despite the trials for the World Championships set for August 25 and 26, Punia is contemplating bypassing these trials and opting to undertake training at an overseas location, as part of his preparation for the Asian Games in Hangzhou, commencing on September 23.
