NAGPUR: India's best bet in the ITF women's tennis championships, currently in progress at the clay courts of Ram Nagar, escaped to post victory over an unseeded compatriot, while the third and fourth seeds were sent packing from the Maha Urja $25K event on Wednesday.
Fifth seed and India's second highest ranked Sahaja Yamlapalli (No. 329) - after top rated Ankita Raina skipped the international tournament - rallied from a set down to get the better of Vaidehi Chaudhari. Meanwhile, Lithuania's No. 3 seed Justina Mikulskyte and fourth seed Diana Marcinkevica from Latvia were shown the exit door by their respective Japanese opponents.
