Those living near a Tesco Express in Nottinghamshire say they will be "sad to see it go" as it will now be replaced with a new store. The shop in Howbeck Road, in Arnold, will turn into a One Stop shop after permanently closing down next month on May 4.
One Stop is owned by Tesco - but, despite this, residents in the area say they would ‘prefer’ a Tesco store. A sign currently outside the shop reads: “This store will permanently close on 04/05/2023. Your nearest Tesco store is Mansfield Road, Express [in Woodthorpe].”
Tony Martin, 44, who is a mechanic living in Arnold, said: “It’s not the end of the world, it's turning into a One Stop, at least we’ll still have a shop in the area. I shop at Tesco the most out of all the supermarkets and use this Express or go to a superstore.

“Staff are always friendly here and it’s always been handy to have it in the area.”
A One Stop spokesperson confirmed that a new shop would be coming to the area. The Tesco Express will change to a One Stop on May 26.
Arnold receptionist Ethan Gregory, 29, said: “I would prefer a Tesco but having a One Stop is better than having no shop at all.
“I come here often and it’s nice to have a shop pretty much on your doorstep. Not everyone can say they have that so it could be worse, we could be losing a shop and not have it replaced with anything.”
Amanda James, 59, who lives in Carlton, said: “I’ll be sad to see the Tesco go but we’ll still have a shop hopefully, it won’t be anymore expensive.
“I go here from time to time because my mum lives in the area. It's handy if you’ve forgotten anything on your big shop.”
A One Stop spokesperson has said they ‘look forward’ to coming to the area.
