Sadness as owner of Nottingham's oldest gay bar confirms venue is to be sold

The owner of Nottingham's oldest gay bar has announced she will be selling up and heading into retirement after more than 20 years at the venue. Debbie Law confirmed she was moving away from the New Foresters as pain she was suffering from fibromyalgia was 'starting to get worse'.

Members of the LGBTQ+ community expressed their sadness at the decision to sell the business and some have raised concerns over whether the St. Ann's street bar will remain a 'safe space'. Speaking to Nottinghamshire Live, Debbie said she was keen to see the bar remain a gay venue as many such spaces have closed in recent years.

The bar was recently awarded the city's first pink plaque, recognising its service to the community since the 1950s. However, this will mean finding the ideal candidate to take on the iconic building and Nottingham's lively gay scene. Explaining the reason behind her retirement, Debbie said:
