Penalties had been required to separate Senegal and Egypt in the AFCON final after a 0-0 draw, with Mane also scoring the winner on that occasion, with the game already decided before Salah was able to step up for a spot-kick of his own.
This time, the Egyptian King took his country's first effort, after a 1-1 aggregate draw, but blazed his strike over the bar after being blinded by a barrage of laser pens from the home fans.
