Rangers may be made to wait on a potential windfall from Bayern Munich's sale of Malik Tillman - with Thomas Tuchel reportedly giving the playmaker a second chance in Bavaria.
The news comes with the Bundesliga champions plotting a major clearout of their first-team squad following a less dominant campaign than previous years - which narrowly saw them claim the German title after a dramatic final day slip up from Borussia Dortmund. The likes of attacking midfielder Sadio Mane will be moved on after a disastrous move from Liverpool last summer - reports German outlet Bild - which could leave an opening for the USA international in Munich next term.
Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry could also be heading out of the door and former Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain boss Tuchel is assessing his options ahead of the new campaign. Tillman was handed a chance to train with the first-team during the first day of pre-season training with the 21-year-old's future up in the air this summer.
A delay in a sale could be bad news for Rangers after the Scottish Premiership side saw their option to buy bought out by Bayern at the end of the campaign. The Munich outfit gave Gers the option to buy Tillman when they loaned the playmaker to them last season but Bayern bought back that option and the Light Blues will also get a cut of Tillman’s next sale.
English Premier League sides Brighton and Brentford were reportedly keen on a deal. But Tuchel now appears to be having second thoughts - which could derail a lump sum making its way to Ibrox this summer.
However, the German outlet report that Tuchel has still included Tillman on an 11-player list of talent that could be allowed to leave. It is noted that he "could leave for a new loan deal" with the permanent exit chances "minimal" at this stage of the window.
Rangers boss Michael Beale was a huge admirer of Tillman last term. If Bayern are considering a loan agreement, it could open the door to the prospect of a return to Govan.
