Sadibou Sy focused on Dilano Taylor, not $1 million PFL prize or fighting at MSG

LAS VEGAS – Sadibou Sy is focused on one thing only. He’s keeping his sights locked on Dilano Taylor and nothing more.

Sy (12-6-2) takes on Taylor in the welterweight final at the 2022 PFL Championships on Nov. 25 in New York. Sy admits it’s hard not to look ahead and daydream of the $1 million prize that comes with winning a PFL season, but he must keep focused on the task at hand.

“It’s hard not to think about the bag, but I focus on the fight, and everything else around that is going to sort itself out,” Sy told MMA Junkie Radio.

But the $1 million prize is not the only thing at play for Sy and Taylor. They’ll also be competing at the Hulu Theater, part of the iconic Madison Square Garden. Sy, who’s got 20 professional fights, says it’s a dream come true to be competing in such an important venue, but once again, he won’t put too much stock in it until the job is done.

“Actually I’ve never performed at Madison Square Garden,” Sy said. “This would be the first time. As an athlete, as a fighter, you couldn’t wish for anymore.

“So it’s going to be amazing, (but) the same thing with the bag: It’s going to be amazing, but when the cage closes, it doesn’t matter if it’s going to be in Xtreme Couture or Sweden in my dream home back there, we’re still going to close the cage, and we’re going to fight.”
