NEW DELHI: While it was Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin, who wreaked havoc with the ball on the opening day of the first Test against Australia, Day 2 saw a Rohit Sharma masterclass as India edged ahead in the series opener in Nagpur.
Riding on Rohit's ton (120) and an unbeaten 66 from Jadeja, India were 321 for 7 at the close of play on Day 2 in reply to Australia's first innings 177. The hosts took a solid 144-run lead to strangle the Aussies.
Legendary Sachin Tendulkar on Friday took to Twitter to laud the special efforts from the Rohit, Ravindra & Ravichandran trio.
With three days still to go and already a sizable lead at hand, India on the third day will look to mount more pressure on the Aussies, adding even more runs to their lead, keeping in mind that they will have to bat last if need be.
Jadeja and Axar Patel (52*) will resume India's first innings on Day 3.
