Sachin Tendulkar, and sledging! Yes, it happened and roughed up Steve Waugh

Sachin Tendulkar has been sledged a number of times during his legendary career whenever he frustrated bowlers around the world by piling on the runs, but it's rare to see the soft-spoken batting legend getting under the skin of the opposition with his words.

One such video from the cricket archives has resurfaced on social media, where the Indian batting legend could be seen roughing up the feathers of former Australia captain Steve Waugh in an ODI during a tour of India.

Tendulkar, who used to bowl a mix of everything during his career from a short run-up, could be seen exchanging a few words with Waugh, who was batting.

Tendulkar and Waugh are seen gesturing to each other while saying a few words. However, it was Tendulkar who ended up winning that battle.

Trying to make a statement with his attempt to hit Tendulkar for a six, Waugh was caught at long-on by Ajit Agarkar to become the 100th ODI wicket for the Indian legend.

While Tendulkar's batting always enthralled his millions of fans across the globe, his bowling was equally loved. And Tendulkar himself was very particular about contributing for the team with the ball as well, which shows in his 46 Test wickets and 154 in ODIs. He took one wicket in the only T20I he played.

Before retiring in November 2013, Tendulkar famously reached the landmark of 100 international centuries -- 49 in ODIs and 51 in Tests. Virat Kohli recently broke his record of ODI hundreds by scoring his 50th.

Tendulkar played 200 Tests, scoring 15921 runs at an average of 53.79. In 463 ODIs, his tally of runs reads a staggering 18,426 at an average of 44.83.

Besides his 100 international tons, Tendulkar also scored 68 half-centuries in Tests and 96 in ODIs.
