Sabrina Carpenter's reaction became a talking point of its own after Madonna revealed at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards that she waited five days for a response before contacting Carpenter directly. The pair had just won Best Collaboration for 'Bring Your Love' when Madonna shared the unexpected story, prompting Carpenter to laugh before responding on stage.
While accepting the award on 27 September, Madonna explained that she had initially tried to get connected with Carpenter about making a song together. After five days without hearing whether Carpenter wanted to collaborate, Madonna said she decided to send the singer a direct message.
