Cardiff City manager Sabri Lamouchi hopes the club get a deal over the line for free agent striker Connor Wickham.
WalesOnline exclusively revealed this week that the Bluebirds were mulling over a deal for the player, who left Forest Green Rovers last month, after first-team coach Dean Whitehead brought him into the building.
And manager Lamouchi revealed the player has been training with the club and Cardiff are trying to finalise a deal to add him to the squad in order to boost their chances of survival.

When asked if Wickham was going to sign, Lamouchi replied: "Probably. We are discussing. We are trying to sign him, so he is training with us. I hope he will be part of the squad.
"It was the timing and opportunity. We don’t have a lot of opportunity or a lot of time. He was around and training. His experience in this league can help us and help the squad.
"He has very good experience. I remember him years ago. I spoke with him and saw him on the pitch. Physically big with quality and experience."
Wickham scored nine goals in 20 games in all competitions for the League One club earlier in the season and left in search of a new challenge higher up the football pyramid.
And it appears Cardiff are going to take a chance on him, with goals at a premium in the Welsh capital this term. The Bluebirds are the Championship's lowest scorers by some distance and have been desperate to add to the top end of the pitch.
They brought in Sory Kaba on transfer deadline day on a loan deal from Danish club Midtjylland and now they are now close to bringing in a second striker in the form of Football League and Premier League veteran Wickham.

Asked if he was confident a deal would get over the line, Lamouchi replied: "I think so. But they are talking with the club, he is training with us. So I hope this is a question of a short time. I don't think it will be a tough problem for both parties.
"Even if they find the solution of a deal between them, I will not put him in for this [Middlesbrough] game. The game is after tomorrow. I have players more ready than him. So for sure he will help us, but not Saturday."
The centre-forward's injury record is clearly a concern for Cardiff, with a short-term contract likely to be on the table. He has played more than 20 league games in a single season only once since the 2013/14 campaign.
Wickham, however, does have some pedigree. He has 69 career goals to his name, during spells with big clubs including Leeds United, Sunderland, Ipswich Town, Sheffield Wednesday and Crystal Palace, which would put him behind only Robinson in the list of goals scored in the current Bluebirds setup.
