Investigators are examining possible sabotage after a passenger train derailed in Normandy on Friday evening, injuring 44 people – one of them seriously – after a piece of rail was reportedly found on the track.

The train, carrying 186 passengers between Rouen and Caen, came off the rails at around 7.45pm near the Renault factory in Cléon, south of Rouen.
