Saber brings Keanu Reeves back as John Wick in new AAA action game

Saber Interactive has officially unveiled a new single-player third-person John Wick game during Sony’s State of Play showcase on Feb. 13, confirming that Keanu Reeves will reprise his role as the legendary Baba Yaga.

The untitled project is currently in development for consoles like PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

The game is being developed in collaboration with Lionsgate and John Wick franchise director Chad Stahelski, with Reeves directly involved in production. According to the announcement, players will step into the shoes of John Wick in an original story set years before the Impossible Task, expanding the franchise’s timeline and exploring the world of the High Table.

“John Wick is one of the most iconic characters in action film history. Saber is honored to be working alongside Chad, Keanu, and the Lionsgate team in a true collaboration to bring the world of Wick to life in a AAA game,” Matthew Karch, CEO at Saber Interactive, said in a blog.

Designed for mature audiences, the game promises to blend John Wick’s signature gun-fu combat with Saber’s experience in delivering high-intensity action. The studio says players can expect hard-hitting firefights, cinematic camerawork, intense driving sequences, and immersive environments built to make them feel like they are inside a John Wick movie.

Lionsgate’s President of Global Products and Experiences, Jenefer Brown, said the teams are working closely to capture the action, choreography, and authenticity that define the films. The project follows the only John Wick Hex game, released in 2020, and aims to deliver what the publishers are calling the ultimate Boogeyman experience.

The John Wick universe has grown steadily since the first film debuted, now spanning multiple movies that have generated over $1 billion worldwide, the Peacock series The Continental, and the spin-off film Ballerina starring Ana de Armas, released last year. With another film starring Donnie Yen as Caine after John Wick 4 is in development, the new game further expands the assassin’s ever-growing world.

While the game does not yet have a release date or official title, the reveal trailer offers a first glimpse at what could be the most ambitious John Wick adaptation yet, with more updates likely to follow soon.
