A split image showing the Saatva Classic mattress on a bed frame next to the Casper Dream mattress on a bed frame.

If you’re looking for hotel-style luxury in your own home then investing in a quality mattress can make all the difference. The Saatva Classic and Casper Dream are two luxury hybrid mattresses that can offer hotel-quality comfort, so we’ve put these two beds head to head to find out how they also compare in terms of price, design and support.

The Saatva Classic consistently tops this year's best mattress for all sleepers guide thanks to its excellent lumbar support and customizable firmness options making this bed suitable for most sleep styles. The Casper Dream also performs well when it comes to support, offering sleepers outstanding pressure relief and temperature regulation, but which is the right mattress for you?

Just as you’d expect, these top-rated mattresses do come with a high-end price tag, but with regular mattress sales throughout the year, you can often get them for less than the MSRP. So, we're taking a closer look at the Saatva Classic vs the Casper Dream and considering their performance across key areas like support, comfort, motion isolation, temperature regulation and more to find out which bed you should invest in.

Saatva Classic vs Casper Dream mattress: Price & Trial

  • Both are luxury hybrid mattresses
  • The Saatva Classic offers a 365-night trial and forever warranty
  • The Casper Dream offers a 100-night trial and 10-year warranty

The Saatva Classic and Casper Dreamcloud are both premium hybrid mattresses from their retrospective brands. Saatva is behind some of the best luxury mattresses on the market and all their mattresses are handcrafted in the US.

The Saatva Classic has an MSRP starting point of $1,495 and although they do have regular sales, you won’t have a permanent discount so if you want this bed, you have to pick the right time to get it. The best deal we've seen on the Saatva is $400 off any size of Saatva Classic, but this is only available during certain sales events. This brings a queen down to $1,695 (was $2,095). We don’t know when we'll see that deal next, so expect to pay $2,095 for the time being.

The Casper Dream in comparison is always on sale so you never have to worry about paying full MSRP on this bed. We are used to seeing between 10% - 30% off, with the latter reserved for major sales events. Right, now we are seeing 20% off which brings the cost of a queen to $1,495 (was $1,895). We don’t think that you’ll see a better price for the rest of the year, so if you’re serious about buying a Casper Dream, now is the best price you’re going to get until 2025.

Both mattresses come with an at home sleep trial and a generous warranty period. With Saatva you'll get industry-leading perks like a 365-night trial and a lifetime warranty. Whilst Casper offers an average but adequate 100-night sleep trial with a 10-year warranty.

When it comes to shipping, Saatva offers free white glove delivery, this means your mattress will be delivered to a room of your choice, set-up and there’s even an option to have your old bed taken away. Casper also offers free standard shipping, but if you want a White Glove delivery service it’ll cost an extra $199.

If you opt for the free shipping you’ll get your mattress in a box delivered within 2-3 days, whereas if you opt for White Glove Delivery, it’ll take between 2-4 weeks, worth keeping these timelines in mind if you’re looking for your mattress to be delivered quickly (or even in time for Christmas).

Saatva Classic vs Casper Dream mattress: Materials & Design

  • Both mattresses have a hybrid design combining layers of foam with innersprings
  • The Saatva Classic has two height options - 11.5" and 14.5"
  • The Casper Dream has one height option at 12"

Both the Saatva Classic and Casper Dream are hybrid mattresses, that means they use both foam and innerspring coils. Everything about the Saatva Classic screams five-star luxury, it comes delivered already to sleep on and has two height options, 11.5” or 14.5” — it's worth noting the extra height comes from the size of the coils, not the memory foam layer.

The bed starts off with a 3” thick Euro pillow top which is made from organic cotton and has zoned quilting in the middle for extra lumbar support. There is then a layer of memory foam which will give full body contouring and promote healthy spinal alignment.

This is then followed by a layer of individually wrapped 14.5-guage recycled steel coils which sit on top of a support base made using 13-guage temperate steel support coils. All this is wrapped up in a foam encasement which offers extra stability and exceptional edge support.

The Casper Dream arrives vacuum-packed and rolled in a box and has just one height which is pretty thick at 12”. It starts off with a knit-blend cover that’s soft-to-the touch and super cozy. There is then a layer of Breathe Flex foam which has an open-cell design so there’s plenty of room for airflow.

The next layer is Align memory foam which contours to your curves and with a band of firmer foam in the centre of the bed, your hips will be fully supported and your spine kept in alignment. The next layer is 6” of Flex Coils, which are responsive, ideal for combination sleepers, and also do a great job of isolating motion. Both mattresses come in a wide range of sizes, although both brands only offer standard US sizes from Twin to Split King.

Saatva Classic vs Casper Dream mattress: Comfort & Support

  • The Saatva Classic has three firmness options — Plush soft, luxury firm, firm
  • The Casper Dream has a medium-firm feel
  • Both mattresses are suitable for all sleeping styles

The Saatva Classic comes in three firmness options; Plush Soft, Luxury Firm and Firm so whatever your sleeping style, this bed will be comfortable. During our Saatva Classic mattress review we tested the Luxury Firm which our tester found was perfect for co-sleepers who have different sleep preferences as it’s more like a medium-firm. If you’re looking for a body hugging contouring then the Plush soft is a great option, where as if you want a bed you sleep on top of or you’re a stomach sleeper, the firm will be the ideal fit.

The Saatva Classic, regardless of what firmness option you opt for offers exceptional pressure relief. It also has zoned quilting within the Euro top cover which means there’s a firmer section that offers additional lumbar support which makes it one of the best mattresses for back pain

Whilst the layers of innerspring coils make this a responsive bed with a bit of bounce, don’t expect much sinkage, the memory foam is designed to keep you sleeping on the surface of the bed rather than sinking in, which also makes it a good choice for heavier sleepers.

Whilst the Saatva does a good job of isolating motion, if you’re a very light sleeper you may feel it doesn’t quite do enough as there is a little movement that can be felt when someone is getting in and out of bed. However, it does make up for it when it comes to edge support which is outstanding and means you can take full advantage of the entire surface of the bed.

The Casper Dream is also a good fit for all sleeping styles. It has a medium-firm feel and, while we’ve not had a chance to fully review the mattress just yet, the layers of Breathe Flex and Align memory foam should offer good support and pressure relief around the shoulders, hips and back area.

This mattress offers a good balanced, responsive feel so it’s easy to move around at night if you’re a combination sleeper and, just like the Saatva, you won’t sink too far into this bed. It does a great job of isolating motion so if you’re sharing a bed with a restless partner you won’t feel too much movement. Again, similar to the Saatva the thicker coil base and firm foam encasement around the edge of the bed means that you’ll be fully supported if you like to lie or sit close to the edge of the bed.

Saatva Classic vs Casper Dream mattress: Temperature Control

  • Both mattresses do a good job of keeping sleepers cool
  • Both beds have coil spring layers for additional airflow
  • The Casper Dream has a layer of breathable Flex foam

Whilst neither of these mattresses are cooling mattress, they do both do a good job of keeping a neutral temperature all night. The Saatva Classic has a breathable cover and uses just one layer of memory foam in it’s construction so along with the layers of coils, there’s plenty of space for airflow and heat won’t get trapped. In fact, our tester scored it 5/5 for temperature regulation.

The Casper Dream has a knit cover that is naturally cooling and will help wick away any excess moisture. It also uses a layer of Breathe Flex foam which has an open cell construction which will keep air moving freely keeping the mattress cool all night. The thick steel coils also encourage additional airflow heat. We expect these features to help all sleepers stay comfortable throughout the night.

If you’re a very hot sleeper or find yourself suffering from hot flashes or night sweats then you may want to opt for one of the best cooling mattresses instead, as these have additional cooling technology that will promote active cooling.
