Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) chairman B. Siddhartha Reddy said on Tuesday that the SAAP league competitions held across the State evoked a good response from the athletes.
The SAAP felicitated those who had emerged champions, at the IGMC Stadium here.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Siddhartha Reddy said during the 45-day league competitions held at the village, mandal and constituency levels, 23,276 athletes took part and 129 of them won championships.
He said the best performers would be able to avail 2% reservation under the sports quota in recruitments. He said the SAAP calendar would be made available to the athletes next year.
SAAP managing director and vice-chairman N. Prabhakar Reddy said the league competitions would be conducted every month hereafter. 'Masters Cup' competitions would be conducted in April for the athletes under sub-junior, junior, senior and veteran categories.
Mr. Siddhartha Reddy and Mr. Prabhakar Reddy gave away ₹3,000 cash prize to 45 athletes who bagged the title, 'AP Champion', in various sports and games, including athletics, basketball, cycling, football and handball.
They also launched the SAAP toll-free helpline number, 8977611399, through which people could get information related to sports and games events and SAAP.
