The death of Paul Cattermole has left his ex-girlfriend and bandmate Hannah Spearritt inconsolable, it's been reported.
His death is believed to have come as a 'massive shock' and the mum-of-two is said to 'absolutely devastated' - particularly as she had just rekindled her friendship with her former partner.
Paul's death was announced by his family and his band S Club 7 earlier today, with fans and famous friends flooding social media with tributes and sharing their memories of the late star.
A statement from the band reads: "We are truly devastated by the passing of our brother Paul. There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel. We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have.
"He will be so deeply missed by each and every one of us. We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and of the band at this time."
A source close to Hannah Spearritt claims: "She is absolutely devastated.
"Hannah is inconsolable. This came as a massive shock, and she is struggling to believe he is no longer with us."
"Just as they rekindled their friendship, the worst happened. The band are all in pieces."
The source went on to tell the MailOnline how Paul's S Club 7 bandmates had been looking forward to their upcoming reunion tour and been enjoying looking back on their time together and recalling memories.
They added how Paul will "always be a huge part" of Hannah's life story and she is currently "beside herself" in the wake of his shock death.
In a statement issued in February this year, Paul, Bradley McIntosh, Hannah Spearritt, Jo O'Meara, Jon Lee, Rachel Stevens, and Tina Barrett, said: "After eight years it feels amazing to announce that we're reuniting and performing together again. We're so excited to bring the S Club Party back to our fans across the country to celebrate 25 years of S Club 7.
"We can't even believe it's been so long! Music and friendship have always been at the core of everything that we've ever done. We hope everyone can join us for one big party!"
Tickets went on sale later the same month, with more dates added due to demand.
Paul's body was found at his home yesterday (Thursday).
A statement from his family shared today read: "It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved son and brother Paul Cattermole.
"Paul was found yesterday, 6th April 2023 at his home in Dorset and was pronounced dead later that afternoon.
"While the cause of death is currently unknown, Dorset Police has confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances. Paul’s family, friends and fellow members of S Club request privacy at this time."
RIP.
