S Club 7 release emotional statement thanking fans after tragic death of Paul Cattermole

S Club 7 have thanked fans for their support following the death of bandmate Paul Cattermole.

The singers penned: "Thank you to all our incredible fans and friends who have shared their love for our brother Paul.

"In this difficult time for all of us, it gives us strength to know that he will never be forgotten."

Paul's heartbroken family yesterday announced he had died at the age of 46, weeks after the band had announced a 25th anniversary reunion tour this year.

Sharing a picture of Paul from his S Club days, the statement went on: "In lieu of flowers, Paul's family have requested that anyone who would like to can join us in making a donation in his honour to the National Youth Music Theatre, an organisation that brought Paul so much joy growing up."

The statement finished: "We love you all. S Club x."

Tragically, in one of his final interviews before his death Paul talked about 'new beginnings' and 'good luck'.

Two months ago, Paul took part in a press conference with his bandmates to announce the reunion.

The star, who was also a tarot card reader, said he consulted with the cards to see what his and his bandmates' future held.

"I saw wheel of fortune - that's good, that's good luck. I genuinely did look at the cards," he said.

He told MailOnline: "There were other cards as well, ace of clubs - passion, new beginnings, your cup over-runneth with genuinely passionate emotion."

"It's positivity - something to be passionate about."

Paul was found at his home in Dorset, a statement from his family said.

They went on: "It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved son and brother Paul Cattermole.

"Paul was found yesterday, 6th April 2023 at his home in Dorset and was pronounced dead later that afternoon.

"While the cause of death is currently unknown, Dorset Police has confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances. Paul’s family, friends and fellow members of S Club request privacy at this time."

Yesterday, Paul's bandmates said they were "truly devastated" by Paul's sudden death.

They went on: "There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel. We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have.

"He will be so deeply missed by each and every one of us.

"We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and of the band at this time."

The upcoming reunion tour (scheduled to kick off in Liverpool on October 13) would have seen Paul perform alongside ex-girlfriend Hannah Spearritt, Rachel Stevens, Tina Barrett, Jo O'Meara, Bradley McIntosh and Jon Lee.

Tributes have poured in for the late star, with Vernon Kay, Rylan, Lizzie Cundy and Nicki Chapman just some of the famous names expressing their sadness online following the shock news.

S Club Junior members such as Rochelle Humes have also shared tributes.
