S Club 7 have revealed hopes to record new music together after announcing that they are reuniting for a UK tour later this year in celebration of their 25th anniversary.
The group were originally put together by former Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller back in 1998 and in addition to starring in their own TV shows Miami 7 and L.A. 7, they released four studios albums which spawned four number one UK singles.
Speaking to members of the media including the Standard at a press conference in London on Tuesday, the seven-piece pop group, whose hits include Don’t Stop Movin’, Reach and Never Had A Dream Come True, called the prospect of getting back in the recording studio “exciting”.
“It’s something that we have spoken about and something that we would all be up for, but at the minute we’re just seeing how the tour goes first,” explained Jon Lee, 40.
“For the show obviously we’re going to do all of our greatest hits, but we’d love to [record new songs]. We had loads of album tracks, b-sides, songs that were performed on the TV series that [fans] have never seen us perform live before so we’d love to hear via social media if there’s anything they would love to see then maybe we can slip it into the setlist.”
S Club 7 officially disbanded but briefly came back together in 2014 to perform a medley of their best-known songs for the BBC Children In Need appeal.
These new live dates mark the first time that Lee, Rachel Stevens, 44, Bradley McIntosh, 41, Hannah Spearritt, also 41, Jo O’Meara, 43, Paul Cattermole, 45, and Tina Barrett, 46, will have all performed together since their last reunion tour in 2015.
They said talks first began at the end of last year about doing something to mark the special milestone, however one of the big issues has always been about logistics.
Barrett said: “It’s so hard to get all seven [of us] in the same room, everyone is leading their own lives, but I really wanted it to happen when some of us started talking about it. We’re just so excited and can’t wait.
Agreeing, O’Meara added: “I think we’re going to go out and have such a good time and a such a giggle. I think where we’re all older now we can literally just get out there and enjoy ourselves, the pressure’s not as intense as maybe it was back then so now we can really have an S Club party.”
S Club 7 will play 11 dates across the UK and Ireland, including a date at the London O2 Arena on October 28.
Tickets go on sale Friday and for those wondering what they can expect, McIntosh has the answer.

He said: “It’s going to be a lot of fun, we’re going to bring a lot of S Club nostalgia so make sure you’ve got your 90s gear on and come!”
Asked whether they will be sporting any of their own iconic looks from back in the day, it remains to be seen.
“I think some have to firmly stay in the 90s!” laughed Stevens, with the group agreeing it was a big no to “bandanas, crop tops and tin foil outfits”.
