They recently became the king and queen of broadcasting, with their very own podcast, Coupledom. Now, Idris and Sabrina Elba are after a spot in your wellness routine, with a new genderless skincare line.
Last summer the pair launched their joint lifestyle brand S’able Labs (Sable is Elbas spelt backwards), along with a podcast which has seen a range of high-profile guests, including everyone from Kim Kardashian to Christian Louboutin, and more recently Nadiya Hussain.
Skincare is their latest focus, and specifically, wellbeing products that are inclusive and available “to people of all ethnicities, genders, and backgrounds.”
“At S’able Labs, we believe that when you feel good, you look good,” the husband-and-wife duo wrote on their S’able Labs Instagram introducing the brand. “That’s why we’re launching our genderless skincare collection, designed with the many benefits of self-care in mind.”
Explaining her reasoning for the move into the world of wellness , Sabrina said in a statement that the pandemic “piqued her interest in wellbeing.” “But the more I searched, the more trouble I had finding a resource that spoke to people who looked and felt like me.
“We think that self-care can only be fully realised through community care. They are interdependent concepts,” she continued. “We’re trying to educate and help but we also want to learn from the conversation we’re having with our growing community.”
Idris appears to take a refreshingly holistic approach to self-care and wellbeing, too. “I want there to be a dialogue around looking after each other,” he added. “How we look and feel actually feeds into how we maintain our partnerships. We’re all part of this world, so if we can help each other, that’s going to save a lot of lives and livelihoods.”
S’able Labs skincare: what we know so far
Details are so far scarce, but the couple will launch a “capsule collection” of products in early summer.
The skincare line will feature formulations containing active and sustainable ingredients which have been responsibly sourced, many of which will come from Africa “where the brand hopes to drive positive change in collaboration with its supply chain partners.”
The focus is firmly on “simple and effective” products that will improve a person’s overall sense of wellbeing. Watch this space.
