TV star Rylan Clark has revealed his split from husband left him “f***ed up” in a candid interview.
The 33-year-old separated with his husband of six years Dan Neal in June last year.
He said he thought he had life “sorted” and now he said he is aiming to “find a new life” ten months on from the break-up.
“I had my career, I had my family, but then I suddenly didn’t… All of a sudden I feel like I’ve gone back ten years, but I’m ten years more advanced,” he told The Sun newspaper.
“I’m in a very different position to where I was back then - financially and career-wise. I’ve just got to learn to trust again. I was in a ten-year relationship and when you learn things... It f***s you up. I don’t know how long I’ll be f***ed up for.”
The star, who first became a household name after his appearance on the X-Factor in 2012, revealed he turned to his “telly mum and dad” Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford.
He told the paper they were left “frightened and shocked" when his mental health deteriorated in the aftermath of the split.
The X Factor star first met his former policeman ex while interviewing him on the spin-off show for Big Brother as he was a contestant on the show.
They married two years later and went on to become the first gay couple to host This Morning in 2016.
His career has also seen him host Ready Steady Cook, Supermarket Sweep and Strictly spin-off It Takes Two, alongside many other TV appearances.
The media personality revealed he still hoped to find The One after the split but he said he was in no rush.
He joined the dating app Tinder six months ago, writing in his bio, “tall normal bloke – 6’4” – am I actually on this thing?”
The TV star has written a tell-all book about his high-flying showbiz career.
“This book celebrates ten years of me being in this crazy industry,” he wrote on Instagram.
“We all know I should have lasted ten minutes, so how I’ve lasted ten years, I’ll never know. Learned so many lessons, especially in the last year but it’s been a journey, and I can’t wait to share it with you very soon.
“And if audiobooks are a bit of you, you can pre-order the audiobook which will be read by, yes – yours truly.”
The book will hit shelves on September 29.
