Rylan Clark's This Morning return leaves host terrified within minutes of cameras rolling

Rylan Clark was left filled with terror moments into his This Morning return after being the victim of an unwanted surprise in the studio.

There was a lot of excitement ahead of Monday's show as former X Factor star and Celebrity Big Brother winner Rylan confirmed he'd be back alongside his 'TV mum'; Ruth Langsford, who herself is making an unexpected comeback to the daytime programme having last presented it wit her husband Eamonn Holmes.

On Sunday night, both hosts shared their excitement at being reunited on screen, with fans declaring they were the partnership they'd been waiting for, after a summer of various different presenter combinations on This Morning.

After all the anticipation. Rylan and Ruth's first episode at the helm got off to a rather unexpected start when Rylan was asked about a recent video of his that went viral on social media.

The Strictly It Takes Two host was left shaken up after finding a snake in his kitchen, with his discovery and his reaction being captured in a series of videos on his Instagram story. As Rylan was recalling how things unfolded and how spooked he was by his unwelcome visitor, he and Ruth were joined in the studio by a wildlife expert, who mocked Rylan's fear, telling him the creature in question was just a 'baby grass snake.

However, the snake exploits didn't end there as, after Ruth joked that Rylan might need aversion therapy to conquer his fear of snakes, a handler walked across the studio, carrying a massive python.

With Rylan absolutely clueless on what was to happen, Ruth remarked: "Speaking of pythons; you know like aversion therapy, if you're frightened of something you need to confront it, well have a look at this, as you've brought a friend with you today," as the man and the snake emerged from backstage.

As soon as he spotted the snake, Rylan sat back in his seat, looking terrified as the man edged closer to the table where he and Ruth were sitting, shouting: "Oh no way this is real! What you doing? Don't!"

As Ruth tried to calm him down, Rylan added: "I've not done daytime for years and I'm trying not to swear," before joking: "I feel like Britney," in reference to Britney Spears' iconic VMAs performance of I Slave 4 U, which saw her on stage draped in a python.
