Rylan Clark's five step plan to transform his life after marriage split - from fitness to dating

Rylan Clark is making over his life in 2022 following the end of his marriage to Dan Neal.

The 33-year-old TV presenter became so ill after the split he ended up in hospital weighing just nine stone.

At his lowest he was forced to pull out of his Radio 2 show and TV appearances, taking a step back from work for four months.

But Rylan – who first shot to fame on The X Factor back in 2012 – is determined to make 2022 his best yet.

A pal told New magazine he wants to bounce back after his heartache and has a five step plan to help him reach his goals.

Working out

Rylan stopped eating last year at the height of his marriage split.

The 6ft 4ins star dropped to a dangerously low weight of 9 stone and was hospitalised for “safety reasons” after refusing food.

Realising he “needed help”, he enlisted personal trainer Scott Harrison to whip him into shape.

In just 75 days the Celebrity Big Brother winner has massively buffed up and now boasts a six pack.

But in 2022 he plans to keep working out and has been “lifting weights bigger than Big Daddy to bulk up his body”.

Healthy diet

Eating healthily goes hand in hand with Rylan’s 2022 body makeover.

The pal revealed he has ditched carbs in favour of protein – and is eating lots of avocados, superfoods and the occasional steak.

However, sweet-toothed Rylan is still treating himself to the odd croissant or doughnut now and again.

His new diet is eating “little and often”, swapping big meals for grazing food, which is getting results.

New mindset

Rylan shot to fame on The X Factor and singing has always been his first love.

So in 2022 he has vowed to start singing again, even if it just for himself.

Pals say belting out a tune amongst family and friends is helping Rylan’s mental health and stops him thinking about his marriage breakdown.

“It helps take his mind off things...his exercise regime is mind over matter too,” the pal added.

Back to work

Rylan says he would love to present Big Brother if it came back (Twitter)

Rylan took four months off work in 2021 saying he needed to “take time out” following his split from Dan.

But now he is back to good health, he is also ready to get back to work in a big way.

The star is back presenting his Radio 2 show. He also has a new podcast, Ry-Union, reuniting celebrities with blasts from the pasts – and finding out who they wouldn’t want to be reunited with.

Guests so far include fellow X Factor alumni Cher Lloyd, child star Mara Wilson and TV hosts Vernon Kay, Rochelle Humes and Davina McCall.

Rylan has also called for axed reality show Big Brother to make a comeback and says he is “one million per cent” up for hosting it.

He exclusively told The Mirror: “ Big Brother was like a child to me - doing Big Brother's Bit on the Side every night became like a lifestyle rather than a job.

"It changed my life completely - a proper 360 - and I miss it dearly. I just think if it was to come back, it could be so different now....It could be very very user interactive."

Finding love again

Rylan and Dan married in 2015 – but split in June 2021 (ITV)

Rylan is single after splitting with ex-husband Dan, 42, who he met in 2013 on the set of Big Brother.

The couple got engaged in Paris a year later and tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in 2015. Rylan was also stepdad to Dan’s son from a previous relationship.

But the couple are said to have split after Rylan expressed wanting children of his own.

Dan also harboured ambitions of having a TV career, which reportedly caused problems in the relationship.

Now he’s back on the market, Rylan is hoping to find love again in 2022 and is dipping his toe back in the dating game.

The pal said: “He definitely still wants that happy ending and he’s getting some real interest from men online – he’s looking better than ever!”
