Rylan Clark has opened up about what makes people feel better after experiencing the toughest 12 months of his life.
The popular TV and radio presenter has experienced the breakdown of his marriage and a spell in hospital but admits the best remedy after a tough time is laughter.
The 33-year-old former X Factor star admits that despite suffering through some bad mental health patches and all the difficult points in the last year, a good laugh can "heal the soul".
Speaking about his support for Red Nose Day and with a personal message about his current feelings, Rylan said: "Laughter heals the soul and that sums up Red Nose Day perfectly - bringing a smile to people's faces while helping out those who need it most.
"I'm in awe of the work Comic Relief does."
As reported in The Mirror, Rylan opened up about his difficult year on his podcast, Ry-union, on which he said: “I’ve never in my life thought that I would go through a crisis like that.
"But I did, ultimately, and it literally hit me round the face like a baseball bat, because I always thought I was too strong for it.
"Like, I’m never going to let anything like that happen to me, but then it does and it’s really, really hard to deal with.”
With such a traumatic time, Rylan admitted that his weight plummeted to 9st 13lb as he "didn't deal with what happened".
He hailed his mum Linda as a "lifesaver" while he wasn't feeling well.
Speaking to The Sun, he said: "I got ill and I lost weight, I went down to under ten stone — and I’m six feet four inches, so that’s not good.
“The honest truth is that it’s been s**t."
Rylan said that his family had been "majorly worried" about him after he decided to "disappear for four months" and pulled out of his commitments over the summer.
"One of my biggest regrets of this year was putting my mum through me not being well," he said. "I needed to get back to me."
